Batson Associates' Interior Designer Celebrates NCIDQ Certification
Catherine Cavitt Earns National Council for Interior Design Qualification
Greenville, SC – 08.06.2024
Batson Associates is proud to announce that Catherine Cavitt, an accomplished interior designer specializing in healthcare design, has successfully obtained her National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification. This prestigious certification underscores Cavitt's commitment to excellence and her mastery of design principles that prioritize public health, safety, and welfare.
The NCIDQ certification is recognized as a benchmark of professional competency in interior design. It encompasses seven critical areas: building systems, codes, construction standards, contract administration, design application, professional practice, and project coordination. The rigorous examination process ensures that NCIDQ-certified designers, like Cavitt, possess the expertise required to deliver high-quality, code-compliant interior environments.
Catherine Cavitt joined the Batson Associates team in September 2023, bringing with her a fresh, innovative approach to healthcare design. Cavitt's work emphasizes the creation of healing environments that are both aesthetically pleasing and functionally safe.
“There's a ton of research about how hospital environments can affect infection rates and healing outcomes,” says Cavitt. “With healthcare design, it's first about safety then blending comfort in an environment free from additional stressors.”
A graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Interior Design, Cavitt has extensive experience in all phases of interior design, including space planning, materials selection, and wayfinding. Her portfolio includes notable projects including Bon Secours St. Francis, Prisma Baptist Easley, Pickens Behavioral Health, AU Health, and Prisma Oconee. Cavitt's unique vision seamlessly blends serene environments with pragmatic functionality.
“It’s not just about the finishes but how the space functions as a whole,” Cavitt explains. “It really is the interior structure in terms of room shapes, sizes and pathways and blending the functional needs with walls, floors, doors and other elements.”
Cavitt is excited to continue her professional journey at Batson Associates, where the supportive environment allows her to thrive. Cavitt reflects, “It’s a really great team and it’s highly collaborative.”
Batson Associates takes immense pride in fostering an environment for architects and designers to continue education, gain experience, and develop their skills. We invite you to join us in congratulating Catherine Cavitt on her NCIDQ certification.
